We are an animation roleplay site set in both the Animated World and present day New York City. After fleeing from an unknown evil that has consumed their homelands, our characters are forced to make new lives for themselves on the cold, unfeeling streets of the big apple. But they're not alone... many fail safes were put into place by those who had foresight. They can choose to forget everything about their previous lives, or to continue to journey across the portal regularly to keep their memories in tact. What will your character choose? Click here for more information and an expanded plot.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and, to celebrate, the city of New York is putting on a Festival of Lights! There seems to be something for everyone; vendors are selling hot cocoa, soup, and warm baked goods to snack on, and fragrant candles and glittering lanterns seem to be common souvenirs. A beautiful carousel with painted reindeer is set up beside a line of booths where those with a good arm can win an assortment of bright, fluffy stuffed animals by throwing snowballs through a series of hoops. There’s an ice rink where you can show off your fancy moves, and a strange convention of mall Santas if you want your picture with one. At the very center of the celebrations is the biggest Christmas tree you’ve ever seen decorated with ornaments of every shape, size, and color and the most twinkly lights you’ve ever noticed in one place. So bundle up tight and drink up the holiday cheer!
We're here to join Elina Armelle and Mathieu Envoûter together in marriage! It's the wedding of the season and all of the city seems to be invited to celebrate the new couple as they are joined in matrimony! You don't even have to know the bride or groom, they are just happy to know you are there. Witness the ceremony, join them at the reception, and then dance the night away as love lingers in the air for Mattie and Ella.
Can't keep sight of all the threads you have? Post a tracker here and never be disorganized again! At least, that's the hope, anyway. No guarantees. It's not as if we sprinkled this forum with fairy dust or anything. Or... did we?
It's a world of raw data, of ones and zeros combining effortlessly in complex codes to shape the world where all who choose to hit 'continue' find themselves standing. Gone are the familiar colors of the world that you know. The memorable sights no where to be seen. The world is a wash of black and white streaked with neon glowing colors of blue. Take a ride on a Light Cycle or try your hand at the Disc Arena where Users are welcome, at least, for the time being. But more then once, the game has changed. Welcome to The Grid.
c'mon. come mark it up. you know you want to write something! on one of the alley walls adjacent to the portal, people make sure their feelings are heard. they write about themselves, about other people, and even make important philosophical points. there's nothing more relieving than scribbling out your deepest, darkest secret on a brick wall. it's totally anonymous... unless someone sees you huddling over your spot with your permanent marker or spray paint or whiteout or whatever the heck it is you decided to commit vandalism with today. you better hope the transition center police don't get you. just kidding they don't have any police. or do they?
this forum offers you the opportunity to play out different scenarios, whether they occur in your character's past or future. however, use that power wisely. it's a great responsibility. oh crap, i think i've messed up that quote. with great power comes great responsibility. and a lot of awesome, too, one would think. it's like you've got your own personal time turner. or tardis. choosing between a time turner and a tardis is difficult, though if the tardis comes with its very own doctor then... maybe it's easier than first thought. regardless, the point of all this is to say that here, you can be your own personal time lord.
With the snow finally melted, spring has once again returned to the forest. After five years of nothing but ash and skeletal trees remaining from the fire brought on by the darkness, the plant life has started to once again take root. There is almost a sense of peace and tranquility here now, despite the savage beasts that still prowl among the trees with rabid ferocity. Even the wind howls mournfully in the night for those foolish enough to venture here. But is this renewed life of the forest a sign that the darkness is loosing its hold on the world? Or is it simply a permitted act to give those that long to return home false hope? Either way, it is best to travel with a friend and to stay off the forest paths at night as rumors of a phantom light in the distance have begun to circulate. It lures unwary travelers closer and closer until they are dragged off into the darkness, never to be heard from again.
Hidden within the fragile woods lies a cabin. Once the home to some unknown being, it has now been abandoned and claimed by the wilds. Despite the advice to avoid it, weary and worn travelers may seek refuge here if they wish to stay off the road, particularly at night, or if they are in need of sanctuary in order to escape the creatures that lurk in the woods, hungry for a warm, living meal. The building itself is slowly falling to ruin. Ivy curling up its side with dangerous wildflowers sprouting up along the overgrown path that leads towards the door. The wood has begun to decay and a few of the glass panes on the windows are cracked. Be wary should you choose to rest here, the roof tends to leak under heavy rain and could possibly collapse in the night.
Twisting spires break the horizon just beyond the line of trees in the misty forest. A castle, once the pinnacle of glorious architecture, now is nothing more than an empty building long since forgotten. Or, so they think. There is a darkness that hides here. One that echoes the memories of those that died within the hallowed halls. It peaks out from behind the heavy velvet curtains that frame dust covered windows. Waiting patiently as it lures even the most wary of creatures into its once grand ball rooms. Enter if you dare, there may be riches of the wealthy to claim in hidden rooms. But listen carefully when walking down the corridors. Those echoes you hear are not just of a single pair of footsteps. Whispers linger in the shadows, resonating desperate warnings to those that come too far into the great Castle. Get out, they say. Get out while you still can.
Once shimmering with crystal blue waters, the ocean seems to have manifested this world's rage and pain. Violent waves beat relentlessly against the beaches with sand as pale as ash. The spray from the sea slicing at all that dare to get too close and attempt to tame its fury. A deep rumble is a nearly constant noise as green tinged storm clouds swirl and twist like an endless mobius overhead. But whether that sound comes from the unending storm or the winged beasts that tend to circle above travelers as they try to cross the debris ladened sands is never certain. Watch the sky. Watch the sea. Nothing here is kind for those brave enough to seek safe passage to the portal by boat.
There is no light here. Long since memory serves has this tower been abandoned and left empty by its guardians as they deemed the darkness far too perilous a danger to stay and risk their lives to aid the others adrift at sea. The ever-looming clouds twist above the lighthouse and the crack of thunder is drowned out by the deafening crash of waves against the cliff side. The wind whips violently back and forth, sending loose stones from the rocky path down into the jagged waters below. The rocks that curl up from the dark waters like gnarled claws have claimed the lives of more than one sailor and more than one traveler who thought themselves capable enough to relight the wick at the top of the tower that had once been a source of hope for all who could glimpse its light.
Perhaps a sliver of hope among an otherwise desolate world, the traveling nomads have once again found that the bonds of brotherhood and friendship can bring a sense of peace even in the most dangerous of times. Those that chose to stay and continue their lives in this world have banded together to form traveling communities. They never stay in one place too long and their travel patterns are nothing if not erratic and unpredictable in an attempt to keep the upper hand – if one can call it that. Choosing to stay, these nomads protect their own, and occasionally those that need help, from the dangers that threaten their worlds. It would be best not to make an enemy out of them or they may just leave you for the creatures that follow in their wake, watching with eyes that glow red with hunger. Should you manage to befriend them you just may find they are willing to trade supplies. Fresh fruit, good blades, even a magic potion that can heal the gravest of injuries.
The crumbling buildings on the horizon that reach towards the sky in desperation to keep standing are nothing more then half decayed corpses and skeletons of what they once were. The wounds from a war fought just a few years ago still fresh and bleeding. The hearts of those that had somehow managed to survive the slaughter turn their eyes away from the village in an attempt to ignore the pain that throbs in their chest at the memory of the abandoned remnants of their home. Not long after the village was plagued with marauders and bandits in hopes to find some hint of wealth that were not discovered earlier. Thus the village still has an aura of danger. The cobblestone streets are stained and the shadows in the alleyways seem to follow anyone unlucky enough to be passing through. Sometimes at night a song floats through the air like the melody from a record player, full of static and unending. It is nothing but a hollow promise of life in the broken houses. A ghost's lullaby.
They say that nothing sleeps in the warzone. There is always someone on guard, watching silent in the night for the enemy that waits on the edges of the borders for a moment of weakness in which to strike. Even today, this area is still used for the majority of the battles by the resistance. There is a heaviness to the air here, a solemn feeling that all who dare to enter the warzone experience. It clings, burrowing into the heart where it remains even long after a warrior returns home from battle. But the losses have been heavy. Bodies of fallen brethren are exposed to elements now that the snow has melted. Some fighters have taken it upon themselves to give their lost ones a proper burial, only to find themselves being attacked when their guard is down by ravenous and rabid creatures looking to make a meal out of them.
While the temperature of the arid desert drops to deadly cold temperatures as the sun sets, it's blisteringly hot during the day. There is little food and water that can be safely drunk is scarce, leaving only the toughest of creatures to make their home there, silently stalking their prey over the shifting dunes of the wastelands. Avoid this empty and desolate place as best as possible or else you may find yourself forever lost in the sand, following a mirage that lingers in the distance, calling your name in the voices of loved ones as they urge you closer and closer. Not to salvation, but to madness and death. Until the hope for survival and rescue are swallowed and buried beneath the wind blow sands like a corpse picked clean by grotesque vultures.
Growls. Chirps. The Jungle is a place teaming with life but those noises you hear may not belong to the creatures you once knew. The animals and even the greenery are no longer friendly as the trees and moss meld into a never ending labyrinth that is seemingly ever changing as the forest is still very much alive. Some say that if you listen carefully it can be heard, breathing. The growls and shrieks of the animals that live here cease only when the daily rainstorms hit twice a day. Thickening the humidity until it presses down on the body with such great force its as if it was trying to shatter the very chest of any who wandered here unwanted. If circumstances force you to venture here, it is best to conduct your business quickly for monsoon season is fast approaching.
Cities are rich with resources. Bottled water and canned goods along with things like first aid kits sit on the shelves within the corner shops untouched and collecting dust after the city was evacuated in an attempt to save lives. But not a soul dares to walk these abandoned roads now. For some it is because the creatures that lay in wait are clever enough to have learned that these precious commodities are greatly sought after and have started to lay traps of their own. But for others, it is because the city is so similar to their new home in New York that it sends a chill up their spine. Is this city merely the reversed image in a mirror or is it a prelude of what is to come should the darkness win? Perhaps it has already won and this city, where the signs of life are all but absent, is our inevitable future.
Once a place of peace and relaxation for those that lived near it, this beautiful lake is now nothing more than a barren wasteland. All underwater life has dwindled into nothing more than fragile skeletons that peek half way out of the dirt and muck. The cracks in the ground have started to disappear now that the sparse rains have returned. But the crevices that delve too deeply into the earth emit puffs of warm air like exhales. But does that mean that the water of an underground spring could be lurking just a bit farther into the depths of the broken ground? Or is it nothing but a new breed of darkness that lingers there? Sleeping and biding its time for the right moment to make its presence known.
While the world is peppered with nomadic camps and fighting takes place in the open battlefields, there are those of the resistance that have taken hold of a heavily fortified fortress. Gathering supplies and strategists to help train anyone willing and able to fight, this is likely the most populated place left in this realm. Some say this is the resistance's base of operations while others say that this place is nothing more then a haven for lost souls. For the citizens and brawlers who cannot bring themselves to abandon hope that one day their home worlds will right themselves. God help these outcasts, these fools who stay behind. And help those who see nothing but a gravestone at the end of the tunnel and yet choose to say out of stubbornness and pride.
Darkness has invaded every crack of this world. It seeps into every inch, every pore that it can until there is nothing left but shadows. Be it on a barren plain or high in the misty mountains, keep a sharp eye and keep your wits about you. Beasts, masked men, wolves, dragons, and even those desperate souls that have turned to marauding wait in hopes for an easy meal or a quick buck. There are many evils that loom in the dark corners of the world, feasting on your deepest fears. Do you dare risk life and limb for the taste of adventure? It's a dangerous business, going out your front door, so choose wisely. For today may be the day that you die.
For those that seek salvation, a moments rest from the evils that plague the land, then hurry. Up this jagged path in the mountains that the elders have tried to keep maintained, there is a cave. A cave of wonders that disbelieving eyes might never have believed if they had not seen it for themselves. It is advised that refugees travel in groups for masked men lurk here, waiting with greedy claws to snatch unwary stragglers and spirit them away to places unknown. Those that attempt to struggle against their kidnap attempts have often found themselves tumbling off the cliffside to meet the rocks below. A high cost to be sure, but that is the risk an escape to safety requires.
Are you coming or going? Either way, the only way to and from the animated world is found in a back alley of beautiful New York City. Hidden away from the main streets and the constant flow of New York pedestrians, the portal is unseen by those that do not know where it is. In fact, to the average passerby it merely looks like nothing more then a normal alley with puddles filling the dips in the ground and, among the discarded boxes and old cigarette butts, the first few hints of dandelions blooming in-between the cracks in the concrete can be seen. But those that know the truth about the world know that nothing is ever what it seems in this place. It would be wise to not take anything for granted. Especially if it's a harmless looking alley.
Come in, come in. Just be sure and leave your muddy rain boots by the door. Fearing the eventual devastation that was to befall their land, the elders worked hard to create a seamless and effortless transition into this new world that was to become a sanctuary for many of the creatures fleeing the darkness. The housing complex is available for those that need it. It offers the bare essentials but the fact that it's rent free is a great way to help get adjusted to a new life in this world. And, just like the portal, the housing complex can only be seen by those who know where it is. So choose wisely who you let into your home. Remember people are not as friendly on this side of the portal as they on the other side. There are no songs, no dance numbers. The stranger you invite into your home could try and rob you.
The snow and ice have melted, giving way to brilliantly green grass and new leaves growing on the once bare branches of the trees. Central Park is a sanctuary of green for this hustling and bustling metropolis. The massive park is often a treat for those that enjoy the outdoors or for those who once lived surrounded by the great forests of the animated world. With warm weather on its way, there is always something to do in the park. Be it be playing a game of Ultimate Frisbee with your friends or biking along the trails, it's time to get out of the house and shake off the winter blues. So come sit in the shade and enjoy a lovely afternoon surrounded by the breeze and the chirping birds. Just be sure and bring some bread to feed them or they might start a revolution.
Times Square is truly the heart of New York and one of the most iconic places that comes to mind when someone mentions New York City. The neon lights are always glowing and the streets are always full of tourists snapping pictures and talking excitedly in languages that are not always recognizable at first. More and more of them are showing up to this so called tourist trap day by day now that the seasons have begun to change. But that doesn't mean there's not a lot of fun things to do here for the city's permanent residents. There are stores and restaurants that are always fun to enjoy. Plus, nothing beats having your picture taken beneath a billboard that's over fifty feet tall for an advertisement of your favorite musical.
Another cultural icon of the Big Apple, the Empire State Building is one of the tallest in the country. From the observation deck on the eighty-sixth, ticket holders can see for miles and miles around. With noses pressed to the glass, they can see just how small the city looks beneath a rainbow left behind by a storm. After spending time trying to locate Rockefeller Center or just where Fifth Avenue is from this high vantage point, why not duck into one of the shops or restaurants? A little lunch and a souvenir will help to keep the memories of this day bright and shiny to make it easier to remember the time that is spent here.
Bitches love libraries! No, seriously. Have you ever taken your sweetheart to the back corner of the history section on the second floor? If you enjoy a little adventure and romance that's not found inside the pages of a book then that is the spot you're looking for to cuddle up with your sweetheart. Just don't be too loud or a librarian might come to see just what's what....Of course, you could always just cozy up with a good book instead. There's nothing like spending the day reading in a quiet environment. It's a relaxing pastime that's for sure. Unless of course, you're starting to study for those finals that are coming up fast. Fair warning though, librarians don't like food in their libraries. Especially jelly-filled donuts. Attempts to share with them only fall flat and has yet to change their mind about the no food rule.
School's back in session! That's right, with holidays over and Spring Break coming to an end, the last half of the semester is about to start back up in full force. Break out your pencils and crack open those books to keep up with all that homework. It may help to make studying at the end of the year for finals a little more bearable. Just remember not to let yourself get overwhelmed with course work - naps and coffee breaks are a godsend. Or, if you'd prefer a more easygoing lifestyle, slack a little and lose all the knowledge you've spent learning this last year. Feel free to use places like the computer labs or the resource centers to finish up every bit of homework that may be lingering around. The sooner it gets done, the sooner you can truly start enjoying the nice weather...let's just...have a quick beach trip first. Picnic anyone?
New York City is a place of dreams. Where a person can be anything or anyone they want. Change your name, change your style. Why limit yourself to routine? Be adventurous. Go out and explore. Have you tried the dumplings over in Chinatown or ridden the Ferris Wheel at Coney Island? Take the time to visit a theater and broaden your horizon on plays and musicals. It's a great big world out there so put on your best clothes and take it all in stride. Don't just sit back and wait for life to happen or it will pass you by. So what are you waiting for? Grab a friend and get going! You could use a little culture in your life!
Spring in New York can only mean one thing: Spring Fever! It's time to spend that cash! You've been bundled up all winter long but now's the time to let loose! Go splurge a little and buy that dress you've been wanting. Have a guys' night out at the local pub. Drinks and dancing will unquestioningly help to shake out any lingering cabin fever brought about by the harsh winter. So spend a day meandering down Fifth Avenue, having lunch down in Soho, or simply by having a bar crawl until the sun comes up. Just keep an eye on your wallet. We'd hate to see your pocket picked on such a nice day.
Where are you off to today? Travel starts with that one simple question and is quickly followed by the inevitable, well how do i get there? New York has no shortage of options for the busy commuter. While some New Yorkers don't mind walking to get to where they need to be, for those who don't care to hoof it, there's always the subway, a taxi, or even planes if you need to them. You name it, we got it. Just be sure and plan your schedule accordingly. The weather may be nice now but there are known to be spontaneous showers. Be sure and bring that umbrella. Or a pair of rain boots if you enjoy jumping in puddles on the way to the office.
So you've finally moved out of the housing complex! You're moving up in the world. A bit more space, a bit more of the world's luxuries to indulge in, and, hey, you just can't beat that kind of a view right? While there is the downside of rent to be paid, it will be nice to not worry about if your daily shower is going to be ice cold. Nevertheless, it's nice to finally have a place that you can truly call your home. Be it a condo, apartment, townhouse, house, houseboat, trailer, treehouse, or any other home you can think of that will be good for you. Anything from a tiny studio or a massive penthouse, you'll find it here and ready to be decorated just right and lived in.
Who wants to settle down and stay in one place all the time? The world is in constant motion and, with the darkness eating away at the animated world, why not enjoy exploring this one? Ever dream of going to a festival in Brazil or trying fresh sushi beneath the Cherry Blossoms in Japan or even hike up the mountains in Nepal? Whatever the crazy idea that takes you out of New York City is, you can do it all and more here. It's time to spread your wings and fly because the world awaits. Just be sure to just drop those of us back in New York a post card every once and a while, so we know where you've been all this time. Or, even better, bring us with you!
